Is he a prophet? Is he just a man who lived many years ago? Is he a religious teacher? There’s a lot of information going around about Jesus – some true, but some false. I think a proper understanding of Jesus is important. In fact, I think it’s the key to living life to the fullest. Jesus said the reason he came to earth was that he might give us an eternal life in heaven and an abundant life on earth (John 10:10).
I’m glad I became a follower of Jesus as a child. I believe a relationship with Jesus is the only way to live. Actually, you’re not really living if you’re not living for Jesus. Jesus gives me strength for today and hope for tomorrow.
Jesus, the Son of God, left heaven and came to earth as a man. He was born of a virgin named Mary. He was crucified for the sins of all people. He then rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and now sits at the right hand of God.
In order to have a relationship with Jesus, we must accept his sacrificial death for our sins and ask him to forgive us of those sins. Then we’ll enjoy the abundant life on earth Jesus promised and the eternal life in heaven.
The Bible tells us that we’ve all sinned and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Some may live better moral lives than others, but all have done wrong. All are guilty of sin. However, Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. As the perfect son of God without sin, he was punished for the sin of everyone. The Bible says this “gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).
God wants everyone to come to him and have a relationship with Jesus. All that’s required is believing that Jesus’ death and resurrection paid the penalty for your sin. When you ask God to forgive you, you will become a child of God and a follower of Jesus (John 1:12; Romans 10:9-10).
Pray from your heart to God’s heart. Say something like this, “Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I believe that you died for my sin. I ask you to forgive me of my sin and come into my life. Thank you for saving me. Amen.”
